The purpose is to have my Synology re-index files periodically so I don't have to tell it to re-index manually from the "Media Indexing Service" under control panel.
As per documentation here are the other command options.

A quicker way is to connect to the SSH Console and issue the following command: synoindex -R video, this will only re-index video files.
